Women in Stem

To address ongoing under-representation of females, minorities and low-income Americans in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) fields, There are hundreds of organizations offering guidance, mentorship, coursework, team-based competitions, scholarships and grants to engage new entrants into STEM fields and to advance careers of those already in STEM jobs. 

Junior Achievement

Looking for low cost and high impact ways to generate career awareness among youth? Junior Achievement is the largest after-school program designed to do so, dispatching trained adult volunteer mentors to schools across the country where they foster career readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills.  

This year, JA mentors worked with 4.6 million American students  in more 200,000-plus classrooms.

JA’s Capstone initiatives provide teens with the tools to create business plans, budgets, marketing, sales and more to position young entrepreneurs in the marketplace.

Learning While Earning: The New Normal

Learning While Earning: The New Normal finds that over the last 25 years, more than 70 percent of college students have been working while enrolled. These 14 million college students face the challenge of balancing work, school and other life priorities. The report explores these working learners and finds that students can’t work their way through college anymore to offset debt. It also identifies several policy changes that stand to help these students succeed.
